Four easy steps

We love seeing the creative ways educators use the First Five in their classrooms. During our trainings, we always remind teachers that the First Five is meant to be simple, practical, and not a heavy lift. If you keep these four easy steps in mind, you’ll set yourself and your students up for success:

Daily – The magic is in the routine. Using the First Five every day builds consistency and predictability for students.

Less Than 5 Minutes – You don’t have to take the full five minutes. Most activities can be done in two minutes or less.

Choice of Activities – Teacher autonomy matters. If one activity doesn’t fit that day, skip it and choose another that works best for your students.

Easily Implemented – Keep it simple. If planning is taking too long, streamline. Grab one image, throw it on the board, connect, and transition right into your content.

That’s it. Four simple steps. Every day, a quick way to connect, build consistency, and set the tone for learning.

Thank you for showing up for your students and for bringing the First Five to life in your classrooms. You make this work meaningful.
