Today is Spooky Edition Part 1, with Part 2 coming tomorrow!
These are always some of our most popular First Five editions, and we love seeing classrooms have fun with all of the spooky Questions, Memes, Quick Connects, Videos, and activities we put together.
But we also know Halloween and spooky themes aren’t the right fit for every educator, student, school, or community.
That doesn’t mean you have to sit out the First Five.
In fact, you have a couple of options.
Option 1: Use Today’s Alternate Edition
Just like we’ve done in previous years, we created a complete alternate First Five edition for both October 29 and October 30.
No spooky theme. No Halloween content. Just the regular mix of connection, care, character, and fun you expect from the First Five.
You don’t need to find replacement activities or build something yourself. Open the alternate edition and you’re ready to go.

Option 2: Build Your Own From the Database
Want something even more specific to your students?
Head into the First Five searchable database and create your own combination of activities.
Search for topics like kindness, empathy, friendship, teamwork, autumn, gratitude, perseverance, self-esteem, or just about anything else your students could benefit from today.
You can find Questions, Memes, Quotes, Videos, Quick Connects, and thousands of other resources and put together a First Five that fits exactly what your classroom needs.
First Five Plus members already have access to our searchable database of more than 13,000 First Five resources created by our team of educators.
And if you’re not a First Five Plus subscriber, we want to give you a chance to explore it too.
Use code FITSMYCLASS to get 40% off your first year of First Five Plus, $14.99 instead of $24.99. The code is good through Friday, November 6.

Spooky Edition, alternate edition, or something you build yourself, the choice is yours.
Pick what works for your students.
Need a Last-Minute Costume? You’re Already Qualified.
If your school is celebrating Halloween and you just realized you still need a costume, educators have spent years unknowingly preparing for a few of them.
Detective: Who moved the charger? Who wrote on the desk? Where did all the pencils go? Grab a magnifying glass and you’re ready.
Referee: Playground disputes, group-project arguments, and debates over who was first in line. Throw on a striped shirt and grab a whistle.
Stand-Up Comedian: Years of earning equal amounts of laughs and eye rolls from students have prepared you well.
Healthcare Provider: Band-Aids, tissues, ice packs, and mystery stomachaches. Add some scrubs and call it complete.
Lawyer: When three students give you three completely different versions of the same event, you already know how to cross-examine a witness.
Low effort. High educator authenticity.
Ask Eddy Question of the Week
Each week, our on-site helper, Eddy, gets tons of questions from educators looking for help finding resources, using our Teacher Tools, or coming up with new ways to make Edtomorrow content work in their classrooms. Each Thursday, we share one real question that was asked to Eddy, along with the answer.
This week’s question:
“How do I change the First Five to Spanish?”
There are two easy ways.
Want the whole edition in Spanish? Near the top of today’s First Five, select “View today’s edition completely in Spanish · Ver en español.” One click flips the entire edition, and you can switch back to English anytime.
Only need one activity in Spanish? Use the Spanish Flip icon above that activity to translate just that piece while keeping the rest of the edition in English.
Both options are completely free. No First Five Plus membership is required.
