We’re excited to share a glimpse of the First Five in action, straight from a high school classroom in Elmira, New York. Our teammate, Mr. Brian, brought a First Five Check-In to life in Spanish at Broadway High School, and it was such a fun way to kick off the day.
This is what the First Five is all about. Students walked into class and had a chance to connect right away. Instead of diving straight into content, they had space to warm up, laugh a little, and practice Spanish in a way that felt real and approachable.
For Spanish teachers, this is a great reminder that a simple Check-In can spark conversation without the pressure of being perfect. Students were speaking, listening, and building confidence while reinforcing vocabulary, all in just a few minutes.
We love seeing how the First Five can fit into any subject, and this clip shows how even a small routine can set the tone for a whole class.
Huge thanks to Mr. Brian and the team at Broadway High School for letting us celebrate this moment with you!
