“The Today Show” is a great strategy when you have a few extra minutes. It can be done in one day or spread out over multiple days when you do The First Five. Here are the steps!

Pair Up: Randomly pair students. Consider pairing students who usually interact less!

Provide the Questions: Provide the questions from the Questions section of that day’s First Five (you can use the Quick Connect, too!)

Interview Time: Give each pair 1-3 minutes to interview each other. One student starts as the interviewer, asking questions and listening while the other answers. Then, they switch roles.

Share with the Class: After the interviews, choose a student to share something interesting or surprising they learned about their partner with the whole class.

It’s up to you to choose how many students will share with the class. You can do a few on the first day and continue throughout the week. This strategy offers a different and creative way for students to learn more about each other!
