More and more classrooms across the country are using the First Five Spanish Edition to find fun and inclusive ways to connect with and celebrate our students who speak Spanish.
You don’t have to be a Spanish teacher (or even know Spanish) to bring language and culture into your classroom. Try googling a translation and working as a class to decode a meme or other First Five component together. Or, invite a Spanish-speaking student to help translate and discuss the quote of the day and ask what it means to them.
As teachers, we’re always looking for ways to make sure every student feels seen and included. The First Five Spanish can help us with that, especially with our English Language Learners. Even a few minutes of activity in a student’s native language can make them feel welcome, valued, and worth celebrating.
