Sticky note surprise

How It Works: Each student writes their answer on a sticky note and places it randomly on a wall or board. Then, each student picks a random sticky note that is not their own. They read it aloud and guess who they think wrote it. If correct, they swap stories on why they answered that way.

Step 1: Write and Stick
After posing the question to the class, give each student a sticky note and ask them to write their answer. Encourage students to keep their handwriting neat and to use only a few words. Once complete, have them place their sticky note randomly on a designated wall or board.

Step 2: Random Select and Read Aloud
Ask each student to approach the board and pick a sticky note that is not their own. They should read the response aloud to the class, adding a bit of suspense and surprise for everyone.

Step 3: Guess the Author
After reading, the student tries to guess which of their peers might have written that response. Allow the class to ask a few light-hearted questions to narrow down the options, if necessary.

Step 4: Author Reveal and Connect
Once a correct guess is made (or a few attempts are allowed), have the original author share why they wrote that particular response. This step deepens the connection by letting students share more about their thoughts and preferences.
