We’re excited to share another glimpse of the First Five in action from Broadway High School in Elmira, New York. In this clip, our teammate Mr. Brian breaks down a Spanish meme with his students, guiding them to spot cognates, words that are similar in English and Spanish, and then work together to decode the meaning of the meme.
This is the First Five at its best. Instead of jumping right into heavy content, students are engaged with something light, funny, and relevant. They get to laugh, make connections across languages, and practice real vocabulary skills in a way that feels approachable and enjoyable.
